The Meopta MeoShield™ coating of the outer lens surfaces protects the glass from abrasion, the MeoDrop™ coating lets water droplets roll off to ensure the best possible view even in humid climates. The ED coating (Extra Low Dispersion) on all glass-air surfaces brings clear images and high color fidelity into the twilight. MeoLux™ is a coating developed by Meopta that minimizes reflections in binoculars and increases light transmission by up to 95% (manufacturer information). The rubber armoring found on many Meopta binoculars minimizes the effects of bumps and ensures quiet operation. All Meopta binoculars available in the yetigear online shop are waterproof (also submersible) and filled with dry nitrogen, so the binoculars remain safe from fogging in all climatic conditions and ensure optimal visibility.
Meopta story
Meopta was founded in 1933 in the Czech town of Prerov under the name of Optikotechna, originally this company only manufactured lenses and condensers. Magnifiers, compound lenses, slide projectors, binoculars and telescopic sights were added later. During the Second World War, a large part of the production was controlled by the German army, Optikotechna now manufactured binoculars and riflescopes for military use, the production of other optical products came to a standstill. After the war, the company was renamed Meopta, new products were developed under the new name, which ensured good sales figures and was able to regain market share. This is not least due to the good quality of the Meopta optics products. The company is now known worldwide for its high-intensity optics.
Meopta AG was founded in 1991 and still exists today. Meopta employs around 2400 people who contribute their knowledge of the construction of sports optics to the company with their work.
